Hyundai’s latest-generation A-series crawler excavator is proving its mettle working on construction sites across Germany. One prime example is provided by Thannhauser Straßen- und Tiefbau, a civil engineering company, established in 1909 based, in the town of Fremdingen near Dinkelsbühl.
Thannhauser Straßen- und Tiefbau is a family-run business with 250 employees working within a 120-km radius of the company’s head office. It was the impressive performance delivered by the company’s compact Hyundai R60CR-9 excavator, that was on its machinery fleet for years, that convinced them to lease the HX220AL crawler excavator for use at the large construction site in Wilburgstetten. The engineering firms’ job at the Wilburgstetten site was to excavate more than 100,000 m3 of soil, lay 12,000 metres of empty conduits for cables, and securely stabilise 80,000 m2 of soil surface area.
Thannhauser and Hyundai dealership, Engelhardt Baumaschinen Gmbh have been partnering for over 10-years on the purchasing, leasing and servicing of construction equipment. “We think very highly of the state-of-the-art construction equipment, particularly as it meets the latest emissions standards and which offers our operators the best in ergonomics,” explains a company spokesperson. The 22-tonne-class HX220AL hydraulic excavator manufactured in South Korea is a bestseller in Hyundai’s broad portfolio of crawler excavators, which currently offers models ranging up to an operating weight of 90 tonnes.
The latest equipment improvements include the new hydraulic flow control system, enhanced control instrumentation with 2D and 3D machine guidance, more safety features and further improved availability.
