Hyundai Partners With STC For Demolition Solution

Hyundai continues to expand its equipment range to serve customers in a wide variety of industry sectors.

Hyundai HX520A HRD Demolition Crawler Excavator

The latest addition to this growing line-up, is a high-reach demolition excavator with a working pin height of 27m, a forward reach of up to 16m and a maximum 3-tonne attachment weight.

The HX520A HRD Specifications

  • Working height of 27m and 16m reach
  • Up to 3,000kg work tool weight, (including attachment, adapter plate and coupler)
  • Excavation and demolition booms available with quick-connect system
  • Hydraulically adjustable track width delivers stability at height
  • Tilting cabin provides operator with superior view

Working in cooperation with dedicated demolition specialist STC, Hyundai’s HX520A HRD offers customers the versatility of three machines in one. Through the use of a modular quick boom connect system, the 52-tonne base machine can be used with a conventional earthmoving front end, with a straight demolition boom, or as an ultra-high reach, 27m working height, demolition rig.

Modular Boom System Delivers True Versatility

The boom connection system has hydraulically operated locking, with fast hydraulic line quick couplers for easy changing between layouts. There are transport racks for both booms and exchangeable bushings reduce complexity.

The HX520A HRD sits on a hydraulically adjustable undercarriage, that retracts to 3,000mm for transportation, extending out to 4,000mm for high reach work. Combined with a track length of 4,470mm, the machine delivers superior stability throughout the 360° working envelope. Track scrapers ensure that demolition material, in particular reinforcing steel, does not build up around the track frames.

Designed For Stability, Visibility and Operator Safety

The operator’s cab can be tilted through 30°, to provide an improved view of the working area at height. The cab is equipped with emergency lowering valves for added safety. A full FOG/FOPS Level 2 protective guard is fitted to the cab, which also gets roof window wash and wipe. A camera can be installed on the demolition boom to give the operator a closer view of the working area and a load management indicator (LMI) provides safe working load data in all boom configurations, with an overload warning and an over pressure warning.

A dust suppression system can be supplied, with water pumps and nozzles, for the demolition boom applications. In ultra-high reach demolition work, the HX520A HRD is equipped with a 13,250mm main boom, a 2,700mm middle arm and a 9,500mm dipper. This combination provides a maximum pin height of 27m and a forward reach of up to 16m.

High-Reach Performance Aligned With Market Demand

The demolition excavator has a working load of up to 3-tonnes. That includes a 230kg quick coupler and a 295kg adapter plate. When used as an earthmoving excavator, the machine uses a 7,300mm main boom and a 3,380mm dipper arm. The main boom is available in straight and traditional monoboom. Bucket cylinder protection is available in both layouts.

The 50-60 tonne sector and the 60-70 tonne sector are the most active in the European demolition market. Hyundai will increasingly offer a range of dedicated machines for various sectors of the market, working in cooperation with specialists and with customers, to deliver machines that match the market requirement.
